How to play

  1. Before the start, pick your kart: Hummingbird, Tapir, Quetzal, Dolphin or Howler Monkey. Each one has a single signature ability that recharges over time.
  2. Vote for a destination: 2-lap circuits (Arenal, San José by night, the Andean salt flat) or A-to-B routes with checkpoints (Caribbean coast, Monteverde cloud forest, Patagonian glaciers). On a tie, the host decides.
  3. On phones: the left pad steers, on the right you have BOOST and BRAKE, and the ring in the middle fires your ability. Your kart accelerates by itself.
  4. On a computer: arrows or WASD to drive, Shift to boost, E or Space for your ability and ↓ to brake.
  5. Aimed boost: hold the button and the kart slides while you swing its nose around; when the arrow turns gold, let go and you shoot off wherever it points. Perfect for tight corners.
  6. Drive clean, tuck into another kart’s slipstream or fly through the hoops on the road to fill your charge meter: when it’s full, your ability comes back sooner.
  7. Points: 10 for every rival you beat, 10 extra for the winner and up to 9 style points for ability hits, hoops and good boosts.

Iron Karts is a 3D kart racing party game you play with friends right in the browser, set across Costa Rica and Latin America: the slopes of Arenal volcano, the Caribbean coast of Limón, the hanging bridges of Monteverde, San José by night, an Andean salt flat and the glaciers of Patagonia. Up to 16 players with their own avatars at the wheel, a signature ability for every kart, aimed boosts and point-to-point routes. Nothing to download: everyone joins from their phone.
